Empowering a Pan-European Network to Counter Hybrid Threats
The Directorate of Defence is part of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The Directorate is amongst others responsible for coordinating and implementing Luxembourg’s defence policy, national and international defence cooperation and capability development. Together with Luxembourg Armed Forces, the Directorate of Defence published its first Cyber Defence Strategy in February 2021. One of the Strategic Goals of this strategy is dedicated to “CyberFutures” which involves horizon scanning in order to direct research, to mitigate threats or capitalise on opportunities, including emerging technology and trends in the cyber domain and their implications for defence and security.
Under the authority of the Prime Minister, the mission of the High Commission for the Protection of the Nation is to ensure, at all times and in all circumstances, the protection of the nation against possible threats that could seriously undermine the sovereignty and independence of the country, the free functioning of institutions, the safeguarding of national interests and the security of the population.
